It is essential for parents and teachers to communicate and co-operate with each other in order that we can build relationships based on mutual trust and understanding so that our children's success and well-being can be assured.
It is greatly appreciated when parents are able to help, organise and set up school-related activities, as well as any activities to promote the integration of international families within the community. Communication between school/family: some messages between the school and family, as well as homework assigned, are written in the student’s diary. Circular letters are sent out periodically and we appreciate confirmation that you have received these communications, by either signing the diary or the receipt attached to the letter. It is very helpful if parents can check their child’s diary and use it if necessary to communicate with the school. Parent representatives: parent representatives are elected by the students’ parents in each class and they fulfil their role, which is to support positive and effective communication between the school and the parent body, for the entire school year. The elected parents represent the parents of their class during the parent representative meetings with the director and/or principal in which information is shared about events and school organisation. These meetings are not the forum for individual concerns which are dealt with using our agreed procedures (see below). Opportunities to meet or learn more about the school. The school organises a number of opportunities for parents and staff to develop their partnership including the termly meetings to discuss pupil progress, open days when the school can be observed 'in action', and Friday afternoon assemblies during which children’s successes and achievements are celebrated. It is sometimes possible for parents to take part in excursions or other school activities and families are informed of these by letter. |
