“The International School of Treviso” is an international school that also serves the surrounding area. We prepare children for life in a rapidly changing global community, appreciating the inter-dependence of all peoples and communities in a world of limited resources.
Consistently high expectations of standards and behaviour are maintained to realise each student's full potential. We achieve this within a stimulating and organised environment.
We deliver an international curriculum that ensures continuity and progression in order that the children can communicate and learn effectively in both languages.
We respect equality and diversity and encourage teamwork and co-operation.
For the benefit of our students, the following aims will be pursued by the school:
| Attitudes and values |
In order to create a community based on positive attitudes and values all members of the school will strive to:
1.Respect ourselves, others and the environment
2.Show tolerance and empathy
3.Appreciate beauty and seek truth
4.Work with enthusiasm, commitment, curiosity and creativity
5.Balance self confidence with the ability to co-operate with others
6.Understand their responsibilities as well as their rights |
| Learning |
We provide a stimulating environment and an inquiry-based curriculum that will enable each child, whether they are auditory, visual or kinaesthetic learners, to construct new knowledge by making connections between prior and new perceptions. Opportunities will be created for children to test and refine their understanding using a range of experiences that draw upon multiple intelligences. We use a range of teacher assessment techniques to assess learning, as appropriate. |
| Knowledge |
In order to build a conceptual framework we enable children to construct knowledge, and expect them to be able to seek, use, question or articulate that knowledge. We strike a balance between the requirement to impart a body of knowledge and the need to develop deep understanding of a few significant areas across the different disciplines. |
| Creativity |
We provide a wide range of opportunities for creativity to develop, not only in the arts, but in all subjects, by encouraging teachers and children to respond imaginatively. Original outcomes can be achieved when children who have retained the self-confidence to experiment are allowed to use their knowledge and skills within the freedom of an open-ended task. |
| Skills |
Social, communication, research, thinking, physical and self-management skills, all necessary for success in school and throughout life, are developed in meaningful ways. Opportunities are planned that will enable children to practise and extend these skills and solve problems through purposeful activities. |
