Year 4

Hello!

Year 4 have made a great start to this term and have already finished one Unit about past civilisations. The Unit was about how present day systems and technology have their origins in the past. We learnt mainly about the innovations and inventions of the Ancient Greeks. The class prepared and presented a super assembly which showed this from vases or theatre to columns or money and from democracy to astronomy!

We had a wonderful opportunity before half term to accompany the Honey Bees to the library. Year 4 were in pairs and each pair had their very own Honey Bee! The older children had previously selected  appropriate stories and then read these to the younger children. It was a lovely experience for all involved. I know that Year 4 particularly enjoyed learning the hugely popular ‘Let’s Go to the Library’ song!!

Our first trip of the term was also a brilliant day- firstly as we were VERY lucky with the weather and secondly as it was a really fascinating exhibition about the inventions of  Leonardo da Vinci. This was a useful link from our first Unit to our second Unit on Forces and we were all enthusiastically trying the ‘hands-on’ machines of  Leonardo!

That’s all for now but keep checking this page for more updates of our new Unit on ‘Forces’!
