Expressing ourselves through music

Year 3 started their new unit, Expression, with great enthusiasm!

We began by thinking about all the different ways we can express ourselves, starting with drama, which lead to a mini-inquiry into facial expressions and how we can describe our feelings in English.

We spent one week finding out about dance, and expressing ourselves through our bodies.  We watched dances from many different countries and cultures, and compared the similarities and differences.  We are still working at creating some of our own with Mr. Moll, in our P.E. lessons.

After the holidays, we inquired into music.  As part of the inquiry, we had a visit from a member of the Veneto Philharmonic Orchestra, Fabio.  He told us all about percussion instruments from all around the world, and how they work.  It was very interesting!

Using our new knowledge and skills, we created our own pieces of music in groups.  Please take a look at the photo gallery to see how we did!
