Year 1 have had a fantastic start to the year!
We have been learning all about communities using our school as a model. The children done some fantastic paintings of the staff which will soon be up in the assembly hall for everyone to have a look at and they have also been learning about what each member of staff does and why they are important.
We had some really good discussions about what would happen if some of the people were away from our school and therefore could not do their job properly. The children did some drawings to show what might happen to a school with no cleaners or teachers or children. If you would like to see the results they are up on the wall in our classroom! We also did some drama in the hall, acting out different roles within the school.
The children have demonstrated an excellent understanding of what we need to make a school community work. This should encourage them to appreciate everybody within our community from the Honey Bees to the cleaners. Good work year 1!
