The Busy Bees have had a great start to the new school year and have already done lots of brilliant work.
For our unit of inquiry we have been looking at ‘Our Class Community’. We talked about the things we like in our class, as well as every person’s role within the class. You can find out about all the interesting things each person does -Busy Bees and teachers- in our class display, along with some wonderful paintings the Busy Bees did of each other. Now we are thinking about how we make the class community a better and more effective place. We already have lots of ideas!
The Busy Bees have also been learning about numbers from 1-9. We have been doing lots of interesting activities, learning number songs and playing number games to help us develop our number knowledge. There are definitely lots of budding mathematicians in the Busy Bees class.
We have had a ‘Jolly’ time so far in our phonics sessions revising our letter sounds ‘s’ ‘a’ ‘t’ ‘i’ ‘p’ ‘n’ by playing lots of games, singing the Jolly Phonics songs and taking part in letter hunts in the sand. We are now moving on to learn the letters and letter sounds in phase 2. If you would like to find out more information about the programme and materials available for you to use at home with your children, please visit the official website: www.jollylearning.com
The Busy Bees have also been working very hard to demonstrate our four EYU attitudes: cooperation, tolerance, respect and appreciation. When our behaviour shows one of these attitudes, our very own bee flies up to an attitude star! You can see what attitude stars your child has reached by looking at our display on the Busy Bees carpet area.
Songs
The Busy Bees have been learning their own bee song!
Do you like to buzz?
Are you covered all in fuzz?
Do you call a hive a home in the garden where you roam?
Do you know how to make honey?
Are your stripes a little funny?
Do you like to buzz?
If you would like to know the tune to this song please ask Miss Harding.
